One Month

Today marks the one month anniversary since I arrived in Norway! The time has gone by so fast. I can’t lie, it’s been very difficult at points, but I have gotten to see some amazing things and meet some awesome people.
My host family and I went to the Kristiansand zoo last weekend. Unfortunately, my camera and computer aren’t connecting properly so I can’t seem to find the pictures anywhere. It was very, very crowded that day. We got to see all the animals being fed. It was also my first time seeing wolverines (the real ones, not Hugh Jackman).
I don’t live in a big city here. It’s a big shock for me because I have always been a city person. The village where I’m living has only about 5,000 people. The town where I go to school, Grimstad, has 20,000 people. Still very small compared to Pittsburgh. There are two other towns near me. Arendal (the town from Frozen), has a population of 41,000. Kristiansand has a population of 87,000. All of these are village sized compared to Pittsburgh’s 300,000.
I’m looking forward to Autumn Break. We have a whole week off school during week 40. I have just gotten used to school now. Here’s what my schedule looks like;
Monday: Marketing from 8:15 to 9:45, Geography from 9:55 to 11:25, Norwegian from 12:00 to 1:35, and History from 1:35 to 3:00
Tuesday (this is my favorite day): Math from 8:15 to 9:45 and English from 9:55 to 11:25. Tuesday is great because I get to go home after this!
Wednesday: Wednesday’s are strange days. Each week we have a different class from 8:15 to 12:45.
Thursday: Gym from 8:15 to 9:45, Basismøte (basically like homeroom where we go over things as a class) from 10:40 to 11:25, Geography from 12:00 to 1:35, and Marketing from 1:35 to 3:00.
Friday: Norweigan from 8:15 to 9:45 and English from 12:00 to 1:35.
I took Latin back at Avonworth for three years. Here at Dahlske they only offer French, Spanish, and German so I don’t have to take a language here! my gym classes here are very intense. A lot more than back home. This past Thursday we went outside in the woods and had maps where we had to run around in the woods for an hour finding things. It was torture.
On a better note, it’s the weekend here! The weather is nice and cold, just like I like it. I highly recommend coming to Norway for anyone that wants to come and visit!
Farewell for now!
